Cort unveils the GB-Fusion Electric Bass Series

Cort introduces the GB-Fusion electric bass series, blending J-style design with active electronics, premium materials, and modern hardware for enhanced playability and sound.

Cort has introduced the GB-Fusion electric bass, offering a fresh take on the classic J-style design. Built for players who need versatility across genres, the GB-Fusion series provides both sound quality and ease of play, while adding modern features that set it apart from its predecessors.

Both the 4-string and 5-string models are crafted from solid alder with a spalted maple top, a combination chosen to give the instrument a warm tone and a striking look. The neck, made from hard maple, is fitted with a rosewood fingerboard on the 4-string model and birdseye maple on the 5-string version. These necks are designed with a comfortable C-shape and a 34-inch scale length, allowing for smooth movement up and down the fretboard. With 22 medium-jumbo frets, players will find the instrument responsive, whether they’re playing complex runs or holding down the rhythm.

One of the highlights of the GB-Fusion is its Voiced Tone VTB-ST pickups. These J-style single-coils, paired with active 3-band EQ electronics, offer a wide range of tonal options. Whether you need a clean and precise sound or something warmer and more rounded, the GB-Fusion adapts. The hardware on these basses is also designed for performance. Both models come with Hipshot® Ultralite tuners, which are 30% lighter than standard tuners, improving the balance and reducing headstock weight. The tuners also provide better tuning stability, something every player can appreciate. In addition, the MetalCraft M bridge, featured on both models, is built for easy string changes and enhances tone transfer, giving each note more presence and clarity. The 4-string model has a 19mm string spacing, while the 5-string has an 18mm spacing.

Another useful touch is the inclusion of Luminlay glow-in-the-dark side dots on the fingerboard, making it easier for bassists to see the frets in low-light conditions on stage. The finish on both models is a matte polyurethane, which gives the bass a sleek look without being overly glossy. The GB-Fusion 4 is available in a Blue Burst finish, while the GB-Fusion 5 comes in Antique Brown Burst.

With over two decades of experience in the music industry, I've worn many hats - from running a record label and a PR agency to contributing to esteemed publications like Metal Hammer and Terrorizer. I've also authored books on iconic subjects such as Kurt Cobain's guitars and The Beatles. My journey led me to the editor's chair of Guitarrista, a print magazine dedicated to the crafts of guitar playing and building. Despite this diverse background, my true passion has always leaned towards the bass guitar. I have a particular fondness for offset basses and play a Thunderbird.
