Elrick Bass Guitars launches new Headless Series in Custom Lineup

Elrick Bass Guitars introduces a headless option for their custom series bass guitars, now available in 4-, 5-, and 6-string models, following market demand.

Elrick Bass Guitars, based in Chicago, Illinois, has recently unveiled a new addition to their custom lineup of bass guitars: a headless series.

The introduction of the headless option into Elrick’s hand-carved series bass guitars follows the enthusiastic reception of the 2023 Gold Series SLC MkII bass, played by esteemed solo bassist and educator Steve Lawson. Elrick stated, “The excitement surrounding Steve’s MkII SLC bass at 2024 NAMM confirmed that the time is right to add a headless option to our extensive range of custom options.” Until this update, Elrick instruments were exclusively available with traditional headstock construction; however, in response to market demand, the company is expanding its custom features to include a headless option in 4-, 5-, and 6-string models.

The headless bass guitars will incorporate features that are consistent with those found in the traditional headstock series. These include 24 frets plus a zero fret, tops made from exotic woods, a hand-rubbed oil finish, a 2-way adjustable truss rod, custom Bartolini pickups, and a Bartolini 3-band preamp. Additionally, the bass models will be equipped with a fully shielded control cavity, Hipshot bridge, Dunlop Straploks, and Elrick Fundamental strings, ensuring both high-quality sound and durability.

Prospective buyers interested in the headless series can place custom orders through various channels. Options include filling out a form on the Elrick website, contacting the Elrick Sales Office directly, or liaising with authorised Elrick dealers.

With over two decades of experience in the music industry, I've worn many hats - from running a record label and a PR agency to contributing to esteemed publications like Metal Hammer and Terrorizer. I've also authored books on iconic subjects such as Kurt Cobain's guitars and The Beatles. My journey led me to the editor's chair of Guitarrista, a print magazine dedicated to the crafts of guitar playing and building. Despite this diverse background, my true passion has always leaned towards the bass guitar. I have a particular fondness for offset basses and play a Thunderbird.
