Fender has announced a significant update to the firmware of the Tone Master Pro modeller and the Pro Control desktop application, thus introducing a range of new features and a considerable list of fixed bugs. In an increasingly competitive market, Fender seeks to compete with modellers from other brands such as Line 6, Neural DSP, and Kemper.
The recent update, the first major one since the Tone Master Pro’s launch at the end of 2023, adds the switch link function, which allows users to assign up to eight switches to one of four switch link groups (A, B, C, or D), and switchless bypass. This function applies to EXP assignments and now enables the turning on of blocks without the toe switch by moving the expression pedal. It also introduces the cab 4×12 British Blackback and the Preset MIDI function in the menu options, which allows players to send up to five custom MIDI Program Change (PC) and Continuous Controller (CC) messages when selecting any TMPro preset.
Among the fixed bugs are the phase alignment of internal cab IRs, which improves the experience of rearranging presets, and the renaming of various effects and cabs.
