Joe Dart and Sterling by Music Man introduce affordable Artist Series bass

Sterling by Music Man's Joe Dart Artist Series Bass, priced at $399, offers a made-to-order bass with a natural-finished maple body, 34-inch scale, and single ceramic humbucker for funk enthusiasts.

Sterling by Music Man has introduced the Joe Dart Artist Series Bass, the latest signature model for the Vulfpeck bassist. Priced at $399, this version aims to be an accessible, made-to-order alternative to the previous Ernie Ball models, which sold out quickly at much higher prices.

In Joe Dart’s own words, the new bass represents “the culmination of the original dream” he and bandmate Jack Stratton had envisioned: “To build a funk bass stripped down to its essence, beautiful, minimal, well-crafted, and available to the world in a way that’s true to Vulfpeck’s ethos: affordable, direct-to-fan, and simple in every way possible.” Dart adds, “I’m so proud of this collaboration. It really is a dream come true.”

The Sterling Dart bass boasts a natural-finished soft maple body, a maple neck and fretboard, and a single ceramic humbucker managed by a single volume control. Additional features include a 34-inch scale, a fixed bridge, and Ernie Ball Stainless Steel Flatwound strings, staying true to the minimalist design that Dart is known for.

The model will only be available for the month of May, exclusively through Sterling by Music Man’s website. It will be made-to-order, with production numbers reflecting demand directly.

With over two decades of experience in the music industry, I've worn many hats - from running a record label and a PR agency to contributing to esteemed publications like Metal Hammer and Terrorizer. I've also authored books on iconic subjects such as Kurt Cobain's guitars and The Beatles. My journey led me to the editor's chair of Guitarrista, a print magazine dedicated to the crafts of guitar playing and building. Despite this diverse background, my true passion has always leaned towards the bass guitar. I have a particular fondness for offset basses and play a Thunderbird.
