Lollar Pickups launches DC J-Bass: A new hum-cancelling pickup for Jazz and PJ Basses

Discover the Lollar DC J-Bass, a new hum-cancelling pickup designed for Jazz and PJ Bass players seeking pure, noise-free sound.

Lollar Pickups has introduced the DC J-Bass, a new product aimed at Jazz and PJ Bass players looking for a hum-cancelling option.

Rick Vanselow, General Manager at Lollar Pickups, stated, “Though we continue to build our vintage-inspired single-coil version of J-Bass pickups, we also recognise the differing needs of our customers and are pleased to respond to that demand for quieter operation with this new hum-cancelling design.”

The DC J-Bass aims to address noise and interference issues and is also positioned as an option for those seeking a fuller Jazz Bass sound. It can be used both as a set of two or as the bridge pickup in a PJ set.

The development of the DC J-Bass was inspired by the company’s interactions with studio artists, session players, and touring musicians who often face challenges with unwanted noise from single-coil pickups due to inconsistent power sources and stage equipment interference.

The DC J-Bass is now available for purchase at a retail price of $155 USD and comes with black covers. Lollar also offers a PJ set, which includes a standard P-Bass Split-coil neck pickup and a DC J-Bass bridge pickup, with a retail price of $315 USD.

Further details about the DC J-Bass and the PJ Bass Set can be found on Lollar’s website.

With over two decades of experience in the music industry, I've worn many hats - from running a record label and a PR agency to contributing to esteemed publications like Metal Hammer and Terrorizer. I've also authored books on iconic subjects such as Kurt Cobain's guitars and The Beatles. My journey led me to the editor's chair of Guitarrista, a print magazine dedicated to the crafts of guitar playing and building. Despite this diverse background, my true passion has always leaned towards the bass guitar. I have a particular fondness for offset basses and play a Thunderbird.
