Maya Vik releases new video for “Body Language” featuring Bernhoft

Maya Vik releases the video for "Body Language" featuring Bernhoft, bringing back the smooth rhythm of 1989 with a modern touch.

Maya Vik is unveiling her latest video, Body Language (feat. Bernhoft). This is the fourth single to be released from her new LP, Hustlebot, marking her first album since 2015.

Discussing the new release, Maya Vik explained, “Body Language is a good old baby-making song from the album. The song takes listeners back to the smooth rhythm of 1989, a golden era where sensuality was at its peak.” She further noted that the song is a tribute to the seductive songs of Janet Jackson, embodying the essence of timeless love ballads.

Body Language features the velvety vocals of Bernhoft, which Vik believes elevates the track significantly. “Bernhoft’s voice made the song complete, and I couldn’t have chosen a better singer and collaborator for this song,” she said. “I aimed to create a song that set the mood right, and having Bernhoft on board was a dream come true. Thomas’s production magic truly brought this baby-making anthem to life – Perfect for a romantic rendezvous.”

Produced by Thomas Pettersen, the track is described by Vik as radiating sensuality and featuring a beautiful guitar solo. The release of Body Language coincides with the launch of Vik’s new album, Hustlebot, which is characterised by dance hits, positive lyrics, and a coolness reminiscent of Kylie Minogue and Janet Jackson.

Vik’s career began as a bassist in various bands, including Furia, Montée, and Savoy, before she embarked on a successful solo career as both a vocalist and bassist. For more insights into Maya Vik’s thoughts on her new album, read our interview with her.

Hustlebot is now available for purchase and streaming through various platforms.

With over two decades of experience in the music industry, I've worn many hats - from running a record label and a PR agency to contributing to esteemed publications like Metal Hammer and Terrorizer. I've also authored books on iconic subjects such as Kurt Cobain's guitars and The Beatles. My journey led me to the editor's chair of Guitarrista, a print magazine dedicated to the crafts of guitar playing and building. Despite this diverse background, my true passion has always leaned towards the bass guitar. I have a particular fondness for offset basses and play a Thunderbird.
