Metallica’s Robert Trujillo receives Custom Warwick Bass

Watch Metallica's Robert Trujillo receive his new custom Warwick bass guitar, featuring the "Arizona Sky" finish, EMG J/J Trujillo Rip Tide pickups, and a Bartolini circuit.

The Framus & Warwick YouTube channel released a video featuring Metallica’s bassist Robert Trujillo receiving a custom-made instrument from Warwick in Germany. In the video, Trujillo showcases the detailed design and features of his new custom bass guitar.

This custom bass is based on Trujillo’s Warwick Signature model and boasts an Arizona Sky finish. The five-string instrument features a 34-inch scale neck made of maple with a matching turquoise transparent finish in a neck-through design, along with the patented adjustable Warwick Just-A-Nut III brass nut. Additional features include custom GraphTech Ratio machine heads, a Schaller 3D bridge, active EMG J/J Trujillo Rip Tide pickups, and an active Bartolini circuit with a single volume knob. The bass includes “RT” initials inlaid in the Metallica font at the 12th fret. The body is constructed of maple, and the fingerboard is made of tigerstripe ebony with a 26″ radius and 24 nickel silver frets. Other noteworthy features include an electronics compartment cover that matches the body and the Warwick security lock system.

With over two decades of experience in the music industry, I've worn many hats - from running a record label and a PR agency to contributing to esteemed publications like Metal Hammer and Terrorizer. I've also authored books on iconic subjects such as Kurt Cobain's guitars and The Beatles. My journey led me to the editor's chair of Guitarrista, a print magazine dedicated to the crafts of guitar playing and building. Despite this diverse background, my true passion has always leaned towards the bass guitar. I have a particular fondness for offset basses and play a Thunderbird.
