Epiphone has brought back the 1970s Grabber bass, a model played by musicians like Gene Simmons, Krist Novoselic, and Mike Dirnt. The bass returns as an Inspired by Gibson reissue, after years of requests from players.
The Grabber was originally popular in the mid-1970s, especially with Gene Simmons of KISS, who used it on the cover of KISS Alive! Known for its distinct double-cut design, the Grabber features a spiky horn, upper body bevels, a two-a-side headstock, and a black pickguard.
The reissued model includes a three-piece alder body, a three-piece C-profile maple neck, and a maple fingerboard. It has a 34” scale, medium jumbo frets, and a bone nut. The Grabber also comes with an Epiphone Bass humbucker, which has an SPDT mini switch for coil-splitting, as well as master volume and tone controls.
Additional features include a Grabber four-string bridge, Clover button tuners, black speed knobs, and a truss rod cover marked with “The Grabber.” The bass is available in Ebony or Natural finishes.
Epiphone said, “Players have been requesting a reissue of this model for decades, and Epiphone has heard you!”
The Epiphone Grabber is now available for £929 through authorised retailers.
