Positive Grid has launched the Spark 2, the latest iteration of its smart guitar practice amplifier. Designed for acoustic, electric, and bass guitars, the Spark 2 includes a 50-watt power output, an upgraded DSP engine, and advanced features like a built-in looper and Spark AI, aiming to provide enhanced sound clarity and detail.
The Spark 2 amplifier includes a new DSP amp modelling engine, which doubles the processing power compared to the previous model. It operates at 50 watts, offering 25% more volume than the original Spark amp. The Sonic IQ Computational Audio technology by Positive Grid provides detailed and dynamic sound quality. The amplifier features new HD models with multi-band dynamic range compression and virtual bass augmentation, providing a rich and full sound experience.
This new model is equipped with two premium full-range, flat-response (FRFR) speakers and reflex ports, delivering wide stereo imaging and a broader frequency response for refined bass and clear, immersive sound.
The Spark 2 includes a built-in Groove Looper with hundreds of realistic drum tracks, allowing users to create basic loops or complex soundscapes. The looper can be controlled via onboard amp controls for quick looping functionality.
Spark AI offers innovative tone exploration by suggesting tones based on user descriptions in the Spark app. The app adapts over time to deliver more accurate sound suggestions. Additional features include Smart Jam, which generates bass and drum accompaniments based on the user’s playing style, and Auto Chords, which analyses streamed songs and displays guitar chords in real-time to aid learning.
The Spark 2 allows users to store up to eight customizable presets on the amp for quick access to preferred sounds. It features large, visible onboard controls for looper, EQ, gain, reverb, and more. An optional rechargeable battery provides up to 12 hours of playtime, while a durable design and double-thick strap enhance portability.
The amp is Bluetooth® ready for music streaming and offers multiple connectivity options, including headphone out, stereo line outs, and a USB-C port for use as an audio interface. With WiFi capability, Spark 2 supports over-the-air firmware updates for ongoing feature improvements.
The Spark 2 is available in Pearl or Black finish with a dark weave grille and premium finish and can be pre-ordered at an early bird price of USD $299.
