Squier has rolled out four new models in the Classic Vibe series, all sporting the distinctive Antigua Burst finish. This release is currently exclusive to European retailers and includes two bass models, the Precision Bass (P-Bass) and, notably, the first-ever Bass VI to be finished in Antigua Burst.
The reintroduction of the Antigua finish, originally developed in the late 1960s, features a mottled pattern that has been both criticized and celebrated over the years. The Bass VI, discontinued in 1975, is reintroduced as a crossover of guitar and bass characteristics, utilizing six bass strings tuned an octave lower than a standard guitar.
This limited-edition series aims to encapsulate the aesthetic of the ’70s, with each instrument built with poplar bodies, maple necks, and Fender-designed Alnico pickups.
Pricing for the new Antigua models starts at approximately £340 for the P-Bass and £370 for the Bass VI. These instruments are now available for pre-order from selected European retailers, with the potential of reaching additional markets in the future.
