Squier, Fender’s most affordable brand, has introduced three new bass guitars to its Affinity Series, including the striking six-string Jazz Bass VI, priced at less than $350. This addition is part of a broader Affinity expansion pack that also features updated active four- and five-string bass models.
The Affinity Series, positioned just above the Sonic range in terms of price and specifications, aims to offer beginner guitarists and budget-conscious players enhanced features. The Jazz Bass VI, making a surprising debut in the series, is a key highlight of this release.
The range includes four-, five-, and six-string bass models, each incorporating several common specifications. Fender has emphasized the “player-friendly refinements” across the new range, including thinner, lighter bodies and “slim, comfortable C-shaped neck profiles.”
The Affinity Series Jazz Bass VI ($329.99) is available in Black Metallic. It features a thin, contoured offset body, a C-shaped neck profile, and lightweight sealed-gear tuners. Its distinctive low-end sound is produced by two Squier single-coil J Bass pickups.
The Affinity Series Active Jazz Bass V ($349.99) is equipped with two Squier Noiseless J Bass pickups, shaped by an active two-band preamp for “a variety of punchy tones.” This model also sports block inlays for a touch of vintage aesthetics and is offered exclusively in Black Metallic.
Adding a splash of colour, the Affinity Series Active Jazz Bass ($329.99) is available in Mystic Seafoam and Olympic White. This four-string model mirrors the Jazz V in build and specifications, including the noiseless pickups and the two-band preamp.
Fender describes the Affinity Series as delivering “legendary design and quintessential tone for today’s aspiring guitar hero.” The company aims to appeal to both new and established players, highlighting the range’s versatility and player-friendly features. “It is ready to help lay the foundation for any player at any stage, and these new additions to the range offer even more options for players,” Fender stated.
