Steve Harris’s British Lion to play Fundraising Concert in Dover

Steve Harris of Iron Maiden is set to perform with British Lion at The Booking Hall in Dover, raising funds to secure the venue. The show will also feature Tony Moore, and British Lion will continue with a European tour.

Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris, through his side project British Lion, will perform an intimate concert on 21st May at The Booking Hall in Dover. The event aims to raise funds to help the venue, which faces an uncertain future as the building that houses it is up for sale.

The Booking Hall is under threat due to its premises being put on the market, potentially impacting the venue’s operations. According to the venue’s management, “The likeliest outcome would be that the building would be purchased by developers, meaning no more music venue.”

The show will also feature a performance by Tony Moore, a former Iron Maiden member who played with Harris in the 1970s. Expressing gratitude for the support, Stuart Cameron from The Booking Hall said, “It’s fantastic to welcome back to the venue British Lion for a fundraiser show to help us purchase the Old Harbour Station.” He added, “The amount of support the venue has received since announcing our [The Booking Hall and Music Venue Trust] plans to purchase the building and secure the presence of a live music venue forever in Dover, has been overwhelming at times. None more so than when Steve Harris and his team reached out to offer their services free of charge, so that all funds can go straight into making the purchase a reality!”

Cameron further highlighted the significance of having such industry legends on board, saying, “We can’t thank British Lion, Steve and his team, and Tony Moore enough. It’s incredible to see that our little venue in Dover can get such amazing support from such industry veterans.”

In addition to the Dover concert, British Lion have announced a short European tour, beginning with a return to London’s Cart & Horses on 20th May. They will then head to Portugal’s Moto Clube Festival on 20th July, followed by a performance at Sala Custom in Seville, Spain, on 21st July.

British Lion’s 2024 tour includes the following dates:

  • 20th May: Cart & Horses, London, UK
  • 21st May: The Booking Hall, Dover, UK
  • 20th July: Moto Clube Festival, Faro, Portugal
  • 21st July: Sala Custom, Seville, Spain

Tickets for the concert are available through the venue’s official channels.

With over two decades of experience in the music industry, I've worn many hats - from running a record label and a PR agency to contributing to esteemed publications like Metal Hammer and Terrorizer. I've also authored books on iconic subjects such as Kurt Cobain's guitars and The Beatles. My journey led me to the editor's chair of Guitarrista, a print magazine dedicated to the crafts of guitar playing and building. Despite this diverse background, my true passion has always leaned towards the bass guitar. I have a particular fondness for offset basses and play a Thunderbird.
