Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI V2

The Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI V2 offers bass players a versatile tone-shaping tool with a semi-parametric 3-band EQ, adjustable drive, and multiple output options.

Aimed at musicians who require both flexibility and precision in tone shaping, the Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI V2 is equipped with a semi-parametric 3-band EQ, adjustable drive, and both 1/4-inch and XLR outputs. The pedal is designed to accommodate varied tonal needs, offering a versatile tonal palette while maintaining ease of use.

The Para Driver D.I. V2 includes a semi-parametric 3-band EQ, featuring fixed bass and treble bands, with sweepable midrange frequencies. This design allows players to fine-tune their sound by focusing on specific tonal aspects of their instrument. The pedal includes a parallel output, providing the option of sending a clean DI tone alongside the main signal, which aids in achieving an ideal mix.

This DI pedal replicates the natural warmth and presence associated with classic tube amplifiers, aiming to smooth out harsh piezo pickup harmonics. Its tone control options include a drive knob for subtle edge and additional air and rumble filters to refine the tone further. The rumble filter is designed to eliminate unwanted subsonic frequencies, often causing boominess and handling noise in acoustic guitars. The air control enhances clarity and brightness, highlighting the acoustic guitar’s natural high frequencies.

The second version of the SansAmp Para Driver D.I. incorporates these tonal improvements while maintaining the core characteristics of the original. The added rumble and air filters enable better tonal control by managing unwanted subsonic noise and adding high-end brightness, respectively. The pedal offers 12dB of cut or boost for active tone shaping, while the variable EQ provides precise tonal sculpting.

With over two decades of experience in the music industry, I've worn many hats - from running a record label and a PR agency to contributing to esteemed publications like Metal Hammer and Terrorizer. I've also authored books on iconic subjects such as Kurt Cobain's guitars and The Beatles. My journey led me to the editor's chair of Guitarrista, a print magazine dedicated to the crafts of guitar playing and building. Despite this diverse background, my true passion has always leaned towards the bass guitar. I have a particular fondness for offset basses and play a Thunderbird.
