Tim Lefebvre to release new Bass Concepts Masterclass Series

Tim Lefebvre releases New Bass Concepts, a two-part masterclass covering bass techniques, pedals, and genre influences. Pre-order available now.

Tim Lefebvre is releasing New Bass Concepts Part 1 and Part 2, a two-part masterclass designed to teach bassists practical techniques and creative approaches. The series, coming out on 20 September 2024 via Heartcore Records, includes lessons on everything from timing and groove to using pedals and effects.

In Part 1, Lefebvre covers the basics, such as scales, rhythm, and band dynamics, drawing on his experience working with artists like David Bowie and the Tedeschi Trucks Band. He also shares tips on what to avoid in group settings and studio work.

Part 2 focuses on his pedalboard setup and how he integrates various styles like drum ‘n’ bass and neo-soul into his playing. It’s packed with practical advice for musicians wanting to experiment with effects and develop their sound.

Known for his work with artists like David Bowie on Blackstar and the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Lefebvre’s career spans over 150 recordings. His blend of rock, jazz, and electronic influences can also be heard on film soundtracks such as The Departed and Ocean’s 12. From 2013 to 2018, he played with the Tedeschi Trucks Band and appeared on albums including Let Me Get By and Signs.

Lefebvre continues to perform with artists like Donny McCaslin and the Michael Wollny Trio, while also collaborating with groups like Whose Hat Is This? and Rachel Eckroth.

With over two decades of experience in the music industry, I've worn many hats - from running a record label and a PR agency to contributing to esteemed publications like Metal Hammer and Terrorizer. I've also authored books on iconic subjects such as Kurt Cobain's guitars and The Beatles. My journey led me to the editor's chair of Guitarrista, a print magazine dedicated to the crafts of guitar playing and building. Despite this diverse background, my true passion has always leaned towards the bass guitar. I have a particular fondness for offset basses and play a Thunderbird.
